Only this season is a little different. Instead of doing one single Ironman event to raise awareness and support for Melanoma Know More, I’m doing several! I started off with the iconic Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco. The second event was the Ironman Muncie 70.3 on July 8th and the 3rd race is Ironman Chattanooga on September 24th!
Many of you may know that I lost my brother, Scott, to melanoma just over 7 years ago. He was 39. He spent the better part of four years battling this aggressive form of skin cancer. Unfortunately since then we’ve lost too many others, including dear friend and fellow MKM board member, Steve Hazlebeck. These warriors and their families have made a lasting impact on my life’s journey.
In 2014 I had the good fortune to combine my passion for endurance sports and my role as president of Melanoma Know More, and participated in IRONMAN Louisville to help raise awareness for this disease and provide funds to support our free screening clinics, school programming and research. I’m happy to say that since then I’ve help raise over $15,000 through my race efforts to support MKM in our fight against melanoma!
Your generous support goes directly towards Melanoma Know More and allows us to continue our mission of eradicating the impact of this disease through awareness, education, screening and research. I am asking you to help me achieve my goal by donating what you can to support MKM.
If you would like to make an impact on melanoma, please donate online today.
