SUPPORT MELANOMA KNOW MORE DURING
MELANOMA AWARENESS MONTH

May is Melanoma Awareness Month! It is a time to raise awareness about melanoma as well as to raise funds to support Melanoma Know More's growing School & Youth Education program. This program enables staff and volunteers to provide educational outreach at local area schools. We have the opportunity to educate students about the importance of sun and skin safety in a way that is interactive, educational and fun. This program has already reached over 1,900 students this year and we still have many months to go before the year concludes. We hope to continue to increase this number each year and are asking for your financial support during Melanoma Awareness Month to help us continue to fund this great program as we endeavor to expand, enhance and provide the most effective educational service possible.

Please consider making a Melanoma Awareness Month donation to support Melanoma Know More's School & Youth Education Program. Your financial contribution will help us purchase additional materials to support the educational curriculum as well as to help continue to recruit and train additional volunteers so we can expand the program to more school locations throughout our community.

Melanoma Know More (MKM) strives for a world free from the threat of melanoma. We are committed to educating the people of Greater Cincinnati about the devastating impact of melanoma.

Melanoma is currently the fastest growing form of cancer. It is the most aggressive and potentially life-threatening type of skin cancer. The incidence of melanoma is increasing at an alarming rate. Currently, 1 in 53 people will have an invasive melanoma, and this is expected to increase to 1 in 50 over the next year. While only 3% of all skin cancers are melanoma, approximately 80% of all skin cancer-related deaths are due to melenoma. It is the most common cancer in young adults aged 25-29 years. Anyone, regardless of skin color, can develop melanoma.

We can only accomplish our goals to expand and enhance our School & Youth Education Program with your help. Please support Melanoma Know More with a gift today. Every contribution is meaningful. Give generously so Melanoma Know More can give the citizens of our community a fighting chance against the world's fasting growing form of cancer.

Sincerely,

Leanne Marie Blair
Executive Director
